Bed Types

We have tried to get the best possible selection of beds onto our Wooden Beds website. There are many different timbers that are used to make furniture nowadays and many of them are included in the website in order to offer you a great choice. All of the beds on the website are superb build quality and feature the following timbers:

Oak beds – oak has always been a popular timber sought after by our customers because of its shear strength and longevity attributes. Due to it being classified as a hardwood because of it's tight grain, an oak bed will last a very long time. Although this particular bed can be a little more expensive than others, in the long run it will probably save you money as it will last a lot longer! Pine beds – pine is one of the timbers that costs less to buy because it is in plentiful supply and it's easy to craft into all different designs. Pine has always been known as a more traditional type of wood for making furniture although recently bed manufacturers have been designing models that are a little more contemporary looking. Mahogany beds – like oak, mahogany is one of the timbers that has been used for many years to make superior quality products. The hardwood properties make any bed made from this timber extremely sturdy. Another reason that this wood has always been popular is the fact that it has a beautiful reddish tint to it that gives a bedroom a really warm feeling!

Walnut beds – walnut is another timber from the hardwood family. This wood is usually used to make the more grander bed designs such as the sleigh bed. Walnut can take a long while to grow and is slightly more difficult to craft than other woods such as pine – this generally means that a walnut bed will cost you a little bit more than the lower end beds! Light wood beds – this category of wood includes rubber wood. Rubber wood is one of the more preferred timbers by furniture designers for mid range beds. Rubber wood has very sturdy properties and is fantastic ethically as it is an extremely sustainable source. This wood is without doubt in plentiful supply due to well managed forests.
