Painted Wooden Beds
Painted wooden beds have become very fashionable in recent years and can bring a really bright, fresh look to a bedroom that is looking somewhat dowdy! Painted furniture started to appear when the renaissance spread throughout Europe during the Jacobean era around the 17th century. Since then at various times, a painted wooden bed frame has become a much sought after style.
Protestant groups across Europe normally avoided anything that was seen as fancy (painted wood) as they didn't agree with a lavish lifestyle, however, when protestant groups such as the Shakers settled in America they took examples of painted furniture across with them and from that point onwards began to design their own simply shaped furniture such as the painted wooden bed.
Shaker style has always been a top seller in the bed trade due to the beautiful clean, simple lines of the designs. White beds are the most popular colour of our extensive painted wooden beds category. After Shaker style, shabby chic furniture comes a close second and this couldn't be more different as this style of painted bed tends to feature ornate mouldings and materials such as rattan basket weave.

A wooden bed that is painted in a light pastel colour such as white will most certainly lift any room.
